Welcome to Danville

It’s no wonder that 43,000 residents call Danville home.  With a charming downtown, exceptional schools, fine dining and outdoor recreation, the 150-year-old town fosters a sense of community rarely found elsewhere in the Bay Area.

At the heart of Danville is its historic downtown, brimming with quaint shops and restaurants. From a craft brew on the patio to upscale dining, Danville’s 90+ restaurants offer something for everyone. Also downtown are the Village Theater, Village Theater Art Gallery and Museum of the San Ramon Valley, places for residents and guests to experience performances, art and history.

Mount Diablo State Park is accessed from Diablo Road in Danville. As the lone peak among foothills, Mount Diablo presents stunning views of the East Bay. Park visitors can hike, bike, horseback ride and camp. Area hikers may also enjoy treks along the Las Trampas Ridge.

For a more leisurely stroll, the Iron Horse Trail that runs through town is popular and is dotted with coffee shops and parks for convenient stops along the way.

Danville’s public schools are part of the outstanding San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Area youth also participate in extracurricular activities, such as the competitive Mustang Soccer league.

What the town’s facts and figures do not convey is Danville’s vibrant sense of community, characterized by events like Saturday Farmers’ Markets, Devil Mountain Run, Fourth of July parade and holiday festivities at the Livery.

Not to miss in Danville:

Each Fourth of July over 40,000 area residents line Hartz Avenue and San Ramon Valley Boulevard to enjoy the Kiwanis Danville Fourth of July Parade. Candy, water bottles and trinkets are handed out to onlookers by the local businesses, area politicians and school sports teams who participate.  Whether you camp out the night before to stake your favorite spot or stroll over the day of, this parade is not to be missed!
