Looking for something to do this Memorial Day weekend? If a road trip or other holiday travel is not in your future, check out these red, white and blue activities taking place around the East Bay and beyond.
Red – Drive out to Brentwood to pick cherries! Brentwood has numerous U-pick farms and roadside stands. Pick cherries yourself and even enjoy a picnic lunch in the orchard. Or, if you prefer, you can purchase pre-picked fruits (cherries, strawberries and more), nuts and pies from one of the growers. Tips: Be sure to visit the Brentwood Harvest Time website, contact the farms regarding produce availability, and go early. Memorial Day weekend is a popular time for cherry picking.
White – Visit San Ramon’s Art and Wind Festival on Sunday, May 28 and Monday, May 29, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The festival features kite-flying demonstrations, kite-making workshops, 150 arts and crafts vendors, dance and activity demonstrations, a kids zone, and musical entertainment. Food is available for purchase from local non-profit organizations. Bring chairs or a blanket and hang out on the lawn while enjoying the entertainment! Visit the City of San Ramon’s website for more information.
Blue – Check out “The Wave,” Dublin’s new aquatic facility at Emerald Glen Park. The water park features six water slides, three pools, a water playground and a performing arts facility. The 31,000 square foot facility, which accommodates 1,400 people, celebrates its grand opening this Memorial Day weekend. Visit
