With Christmas just around the corner, you can expect a variety of local events to help ring in the holiday season here in Danville! Holidays are about spending time with loved ones and spreading love and joy all around. We understand just how important and special this time of year is, so we’ve highlighted a few local events to incorporate into your family plans and traditions this season!
Possibly the most iconic event that has taken place for decades in the historic downtown of Danville, is The Lighting of the Old Oak Tree. This year, it will occur November 25, starting at 5:15pm; be sure to arrive early for parking. Before the tree lighting, the evening will begin with performances from Danville Girls Chorus, San Ramon Valley High School Choir, and Monte Vista Chamber singers. You can also expect a visit during the countdown to the tree lighting from two local holiday characters, Father Christmas and the Snow Angel. Then after the Tree Lighting, skip the Black Friday chaos and shop one of our many local boutiques to find the perfect gift for that special someone.
The next adorable tradition, which is great for local families, is Santa’s Mailbox. Has your child ever dreamed of reaching out to Santa Claus? Can you imagine the joy on their face when they receive a response from Ol’ Saint Nick himself? Well it’s possible!
Children are invited to write letters to Santa and drop them off at the Danville Community Center at the Danville Library from November 28 - December 9. You can then expect to receive a letter in return by Christmas Eve! It is a fun opportunity for kids and families to become more involved and truly experience the magic of the holiday season!
And finally, do you have a mini baker in the family? Then be sure to check out Tal’s All Natural Winter 2022 Baking Camp! Tal’s Patisserie in Danville is hosting this engaging event for kids in elementary and middle school. The camp will be four days from December 27th - 30th where the kids will be making gingerbread cookies, fancy baked donuts, savory shortbread crackers, and a holiday bread wreath that will be taken home and enjoyed with the family. It’s a great way for your kids to hone their baking skills and allow you to try out their tasty, holiday creations!
We hope you enjoy these local Danville events and look forward to seeing you and your loved ones joining in on the holiday cheer. Don’t forget to share your favorite holiday traditions with us! Happy holidays, everyone!
